Abstract
3. Introduction: Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women, which has extensive physical, psychological and social consequences for patients and their families. And considering the limited face-to-face care resources, tele-nursing-based education as a new approach can play an effective role in supporting caregivers. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of tele-nursing-based education on life satisfaction of caregivers of breast cancer patients referred to educational and treatment centers of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in 1403. 4. Methods and Materials ANOVA : This study is a semi-experimental study. The research population included caregivers of cancer patients referred to chemotherapy wards of Khatam Al-Anbia Hospital in Zahedan in 1403. The sample size was 70 people who were randomly assigned to two intervention and control groups using a limited random allocation method. The inclusion criteria for caregivers included; Willingness to participate in the study, at least 20 years of age, assuming all patient care responsibilities, being able to use a smartphone, not being under another training program at the same time, having at least a cycle of education, not having diagnosed mental disorders, having only one member requiring care at home were considered. Failure to participate in more than one training session, occurrence of an unfortunate incident during the study, and transferring the patient care task to another person were considered as exclusion criteria. A free website was provided to the intervention group, which included a 20-day program. Before and 4 weeks after the end of the intervention, data were collected using the SWLS life satisfaction questionnaire and analyzed in SPSS version 27 using independent t-test, paired t-test, chi-square, and analysis of covariance. A significance level of less than 0.05 was considered. 5. Results: The mean and standard deviation of the age of caregivers in the intervention group was 32.02±4.63 and in the control group was 32.85±5.53 years, with no significant difference between the two groups (p=0.49). Before the intervention, there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of the mean score of life satisfaction. However, the results of the analysis of covariance test with control of the pre-test effect showed that the mean final score of life satisfaction in family caregivers after telenursing-based education in the intervention group (15.8±3.29) was significantly higher than that in the control group (12.4±3.42) (p=0.0001). 6. Conclusion and Discussion: The telenursing-based education intervention had a positive and significant effect on increasing life satisfaction in caregivers of cancer patients. Therefore, the use of this educational approach is recommended to healthcare providers to increase the well-being and psychological health of caregivers, as well as to improve the life satisfaction of caregivers and patients with cancer.
